Short answer

Smile Digital Lab is a digital dental lab in São Paulo, Brazil, specializing in implant restorations: zirconia and metal-ceramic implant crowns, full-arch bridges in zirconia, on a milled titanium bar or in PMMA, immediate-load prostheses and provisionals. In our portal you upload the scan with scan bodies, see turnaround in business days before you submit, and follow every phase.

Which implant crowns does Smile Digital Lab make?

Smile Digital Lab makes single implant crowns in zirconia or metal-ceramic, screw-retained on a Ti-base or cemented on an abutment, plus milled provisionals that shape the soft tissue before the final crown. In the systematic review behind the 2018 ITI consensus, five-year survival was 98.3% for metal-ceramic implant crowns and 97.6% for zirconia ones, which in those studies were veneered.

Which full-arch implant bridges does Smile Digital Lab make?

Smile Digital Lab makes screw-retained full-arch implant bridges in one-piece zirconia, in zirconia on a milled titanium bar, or in PMMA with or without a bar. In a 2026 meta-analysis of 2,841 monolithic zirconia full-arch prostheses, 99% were still in function at 12 to 62 months, with low certainty of evidence. Before the definitive bridge, immediate loading puts a fixed provisional in the mouth, in occlusion within one week of implant placement under the 2018 ITI consensus.

What should you send the lab for each implant restoration?

For any implant restoration, the lab needs the position of every implant, captured with a scan body in a digital scan or with an impression coping in a conventional impression. It also needs the implant system and platform, the opposing arch and a bite registration. What changes from one restoration to the next is in the table.

Immediate loadscan bodies right after surgery, or impression copingssurgery date, agreed in advance; multi-unit abutments; surgical guide for guided casesscan of the current denture, approved setup, or photos at rest and smiling

Every case also needs a signed prescription with your license number, and the patient’s name on the order as it appears in the chart. Keep the name out of file names.

In a digital scan, the accuracy of the implant position depends on the scan body: where it sits in the arch, its design, its material and how much of it is exposed. In the systematic review by Gehrke and colleagues (2024), scanning with scan bodies matched conventional impressions for single units and short spans; for longer spans, clinical data are still thin. In an in vitro study by Matta and colleagues (2026), deviation was 30 µm with low gingival height and reached 178 µm with high gingival height, which leaves less of the scan body exposed.

Capture the whole scan body, with no shadows or gaps. Our intraoral scanning guide walks through it, and the case submission guide lists what your Rx can’t be missing.

Screw-retained or cement-retained: which should you order?

Screw-retained and cement-retained implant crowns both reach high survival, according to the 2013 ITI consensus, and the call is yours: it comes down to where the screw access exits and how deep the abutment margin sits. Our piece on screw- vs cement-retained crowns has the numbers.

Which materials and components go into our implant restorations?

At Smile Digital Lab, implant restorations use Aidite zirconia (distributed in Brazil by Kota), Ivoclar veneering ceramics and stains, and Neodent and Titaniumfix prosthetic components, both made in Brazil. We mill and sinter zirconia in-house on a DGSHAPE mill; bars are milled titanium, and provisionals are milled from PMMA discs.

Put the implant system and platform on your Rx. At check-in we confirm the component for your case is in stock before it goes into production. The full list, with where each material comes from, is on our Materials page.

How do you follow an implant case in the portal?

In the Smile Digital Lab dentist portal, every service shows its turnaround in business days from your practice’s price list as you build the order, before you submit. Once the case is in, it shows its current phase and when it entered each one, and your case list flags what’s due today, due tomorrow or late.

Messages and files stay inside the case, with date, time and author. If you ask to see the design, the case holds at the Approval phase and moves on only after you reply. For immediate load, the surgery date goes on the order first, and the case turnaround is set from it.

The portal runs in the browser on your phone or computer, with nothing to install, and its screens are in Portuguese. See how the portal works.
