Frequently asked questions
Sending cases
How do I send a case to the lab?
Through the dentist portal: open an order, pick the service from your price list, attach the scan and fill in teeth, shade, material and implant details. For conventional impressions, open the order the same way and arrange with our team how the impression gets to us. Our case submission guide has the full list.
Do you take both digital and conventional impressions?
Yes. We accept intraoral scans and conventional impressions with stone models, the opposing arch and a bite registration. For analog implant cases, include the impression coping or the analog.
Which scan files do you accept?
We take STL files or your intraoral scanner's own format. The upload should include the prep or scan body, the opposing arch and the bite. If you're unsure what your scanner exports, check with us before sending your first case.
How should I identify the patient on the Rx?
Use initials or your office's internal code, never the patient's full name. That keeps personal data off the Rx, in line with Brazil's data protection law (LGPD), and it's all we need: inside the lab, each case is identified by its order number.
Turnaround
What is your turnaround time?
Every service carries a turnaround in business days on your practice's price list, and the portal shows it as you build the order, before you submit. Once the case lands, the promised date is recorded on it, and your case list flags it as it gets close. Rush cases are arranged separately.
Can I rush a case?
Yes. Rush is available as a service, with its own fee. Flag it on the order, or before you send it, and we'll agree on a date with you. The sooner a complete case arrives, the more room there is to fit it in.
Materials
Which materials do you work with?
Aidite zirconia, IPS e.max CAD lithium disilicate and Ivoclar ceramics, PMMA, graphene-reinforced G-CAM, milled titanium bars, Neodent and Titaniumfix components, and Kulzer denture teeth. The material for each case is set on the Rx and confirmed at check-in, along with the disc or lot, before design.
Is e.max made in-house?
Yes. e.max ceramics are made in-house, as is our zirconia, PMMA and titanium bar milling. e.max crowns and onlays go through the same QC as everything else before they leave the lab.
Portal
How do I set up a portal account?
You sign up on the dentist portal at app.smiledigitallab.com.br, and the lab approves the account. Once approved, you can place orders from your price list, follow each case stage by stage and see your office's invoices and statement.
How do I track a case in progress?
In the dentist portal. Each case shows its current stage, from check-in through QC and dispatch, along with the date agreed when it was opened. You can see where a case stands without calling the lab.
Invoices
Where can I see invoices and my statement?
In the dentist portal. Besides your cases, your office account shows invoices and the statement, so you can check what was done and what was billed without having to ask.
Are your prices listed on the website?
No. Each office has its own price list, which appears in the portal once your account is approved. When you place an order, you pick the service with your price already attached.
The lab
Can I approve the design before milling?
Yes. When you ask for it, or when the case calls for it, the CAD design goes to you for approval before milling, and your approval is recorded on the case. For esthetic cases and full-arch work, reviewing the design before anything is milled is usually worth it.
What happens if a restoration needs an adjustment or a remake?
Contact us and describe what happened, with a photo if you can. Each case is assessed on its cause: the check-in checklist and the QC photo of the restoration are stored with the case, which helps show where the problem started.
How is the finished case delivered?
To your office in São Paulo, by the lab's own courier. Each package leaves QC labeled with the order number. If your practice is outside São Paulo, contact us before sending the case.
Do you take cases from outside Brazil?
Yes. We already work with dentists outside Brazil. Contact us before sending your first case, since files, components, shipping and turnaround are arranged one practice at a time.
